Agency to donate R50 000 to SADD through Facebook challenge

brandhouse, one of South Africa’s leading alcohol beverage companies has donated R50 000 to the South Africans Against Drunk Driving (SADD) after reaching 5 000 likes on their Facebook page recently.  brandhouse launched a new Drive Dry TVC campaign earlier this year titled“Who’s driving you home tonight?” with a view to further create awareness and to change consumer behaviour against the abuse of alcohol and to discourage people from drinking and driving.  In an attempt to reach more consumers, the company extended its awareness programmes to the social media and encouraged Facebook users over the age of 18 years of age to participate online.

“We support organisations such as SADD because their work complements our objectives of focusing and creating awareness in society about the responsible use of alcohol.  brandhouse manufactures, markets and distributes alcoholic beverages in South Africa and we remain committed to educating people about the responsible use of all our products,” said Michael Mabasa, brandhouse’ Corporate Relations Director.

SADD is regarded as a leading Road Safety Non-Governmental Organisation in South Africa and is among 70 NGOs working with the World Health Organisation – lobbying and advocating for road safety awareness and to support road accident victims globally.

“The generous donation from brandhouse’ Drive Dry campaign reconfirms our belief that we can achieve more if we work in partnership with the alcohol industry in order to create more awareness about the dangers of alcohol abuse.  This donation will enhance our capacity to continue with the good work we’ve started with our successful Road Safety, Alcohol and Drug manual.  We will use the money to produce a smaller pocket manual aimed at hospitals (in particular casualty units) – educating doctors, nurses and paramedics on alcohol abuse amongst other material we plan to produce,” says Caro Smit, Director of SADD.
